| What is Yoga Therapy? |
In Yoga Therapy is now understood as the wave of the future by many healthcare professionals. YT is where Eastern healing meets Western medical modalities. Yoga is and always has been a holistic healing discipline that offers a broad range of tools for supporting health, healing and personal transformation. Yoga is beneficial for health in ways that modern science is just beginning to understand. Even though it has been applied with therapeutic intention for thousand of years, Yoga Therapy is only just now emerging as a discipline in itself, brought about by the tremendous popularity of yoga in the west. Yoga Therapy gives also space to the most effective way to reduce stress.
As a holistic approach, Yoga Therapy uses the tools of yoga to restore health, balance & well-being in your body, mind and soul. Every muscle has an optimum length. Our lifestyle and experiences can torque these muscles and fascia out of alignment. YT goes deep into the specifics of the action and thoughts of each individual to find the optimum lengths throughout the body. Each recipient can activate their own healing and alignment resources, toward a natural balance in their physical body, mind and energy.
Private Yoga Therapy Restorative and/or Life Counselling sessions are available. Rate: 150. per hour Contact Janaki

10-day
Vipassana Meditation |
Vipassana is one of India's
most ancient meditation techniques. Vipassana is the process of
Self-purification by self observation, firstly by observing the natural
breath, then, with sharpened awareness observing the changing nature of the
body & mind experiencing the universal truths by direct experience. We in
British Columbia are fortunate to have a Vipassana Meditation Centre in
Merritt. Janaki frequently visits the Centre for 10-day sits and invites you
to explore this deep healing practice.

Janaki's first deep yoga experience
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwanthari Ashram
Neyyar Dam, Kerala, INDIA |
In the Winter of 1998 her
photographic work sent Jane to Pakistan and India. After the project was finished she sent most of the gear home to Canada and began a solo journey throughout India. One of the quests was to find yoga in its homeland.
A friend suggested that she visit the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram in South India.
Her intention was to visit the Ashram for one week before she was to return
to Vancouver. Eight "blees-ful" weeks later, Jane still remained at the
Ashram, attending classes and doing karma yoga. Eventually business called
and she had to leave to go back to Canada. Yoga was not lost. The experience changed her life and set her new course. Jane hasn't been the same since. She has returned to the South India Ashram
several times, teaching and pursuing the knowledge.
Janaki is Jane's yoga name, presented to her by the the Sivananda
organization's senior
Acharya, Swami Mahadevananda Saraswati, during that fateful first visit in 1998. By the Master's and Guru's
blessings, Janaki teaches the eight limbs of yoga, in gratitude for the
wonderful guidance of the ancient teacings of Vedanta. |
